While discussing the situation with Anton Mberema and Disho Thitopogho it was good to hear that there was no thought in their minds of immediately stopping the classes even though we could not reimburse them for their expenses and pay their incentives. At least this ensures the classes will continue until they take a break for the growing season.
Then in a discussion with Dave Greeff, NETS offered to pick up the cost of reimbursing the teachers for their provable expenses. That leaves us with needing to find money for the students study books and the incentive allowance we pay the teachers.
Lastly, I receievd an email today offering support to keep the scheme going in the short term. For all these developments we thank God.
But, we also ask you to pray for us to be wise in considering changes we should make so that the project becomes more sustainable. We are so aware that it must "stand on it's own two feet" eventually, but in a situation of such poverty, it is very difficult to make this happen.
Please pray too for the teachers and the students, that they would progressively see the project as their responsibility. Thank the Lord though, that we can be partners in equipping believers in the Word of God!
